BM was appointed to conduct a technical expert analysis on the development and impact of the 2011 Bonga oil spill, a major environmental incident that affected the west coast of Africa, particularly Nigeria.

Additionally, field data collected from on-site investigations were meticulously examined. Our experts then leveraged advanced oil spill modeling tools to analyze the physico-chemical interactions between the oil and seawater, developing a detailed simulation that accurately depicted the spill’s trajectory and evolution. The model’s results closely matched satellite imagery, providing a precise and reliable representation of the incident’s progression and environmental impact.
